Sudoku Variants Series (058) - Kropki

(Published on 6. January 2015, 00:00 by Richard)

For this Sudoku Variants Project I have planned to publish a different Sudoku variant every Tuesday. I will see how long it takes before I am running out of ideas.

Kropki
Place the digits from 1 tot 9 in every row, column and 3x3-block. A black dot means that one of the neighboring digits has the double value of the other digit. A white dot means that the difference of the neighboring digits is exactly one. If there is no dot between two cells none of the constraints is valid.

This puzzle can be solved without any T&E, but contains a few interesting (starting) steps.

Solve online in Penpa (thx Ours Brun) or F-Puzzles (thx Narayana!)

Solution code: Row 3, followed by row 4.

I am perfectly fine with that!

@Sunhokim8: Thanks for your observation. Indeed, between 1 and 2 there are two different dots possible.

Good puzzle, yet I am kind of curious. number 1 and 2 have a difference of 1, and at the same time 2 is the double of 1. Since no dots means no constraints valid, it would be better if we considered this fact...

Very nice. I like the combination of Kropki and Standard-Sudoku very much (especially with not so many dots ;-)).

I wanted to create a different start in this kropki than often used for this type. The way into the puzzle is written in hidden comment; you can read it if you didn't find it yourself during solving.
